I switched the channel to watch Turning Point and what an amazing show it was. NFL sucks when it comes to choosing entertainment. Keep politics out of it and bring back real entertainment.

I’ve yet to hear anyone say they enjoyed the halftime show. I personally stopped watching NFL and all professional sports in general (including Olympics) after they all kneeled and disrespected our country. I watched the tpusa show and it was great. Shinedown didn’t bother me by bowing out just showed me their true colors and cost me as a fan. Plenty of other music to listen to they will not be missed.

Gave up on watching all forms of collegiate and professional sports (except for Army/Navy game) back in mid 1980 when transferred to a deployable command. Didn’t go back even after returning to comic in late 80’s because it seemed they had all transitioned.to nothing more than whining, overpaid grown adults playing little kids games. Didn’t watch TPUSA show either because only recognized one name in the lineup and not a fan of their music either.

The cost of going to foot Ball Games, Basket Ball Games, Base Ball Games, Hockey Games, Soccer Games should reduce their prices in order for the average citizen to be able to go. If you want to become a citizen of this country you have to be able to pass the test written in English.
You have to pass a driver license test written in English. Public performance will be done in English.
I gave both half-time shows equal time… I watched neither.
That being said, there’s a bit of a back-story to the “official” half-time show. Apple puts a lot of money into the superbowl, and if they tell the NFL to jump, the NFL asks “how high?” Bad Bunny is a big draw for Apple on Spotify, being a huge Hispanic artist at the moment, and Apple wanted him to headline–hey, just look at all the press he got, even if it were just over the controversy! And there WERE English-speaking acts as well, like Green Day. All were instructed to keep the politics out of it, and did. Green Day fans were disappointed they pulled their usual political punches, but that was why. Apple knows insulting half your audience is not the way to grow your customer base.
As for having the headliner do a Spanish show, well, therein lies the debate. I’m all for inclusivity, but there has to be a point where they realize where their main audience is. The reason the half-time show works is because it’s a group experience. And let’s face it–this time the majority of the group did not follow along, could not sing along, and just stood there waiting for something they COULD participate in.
Hey, I’m of Italian descent, and I’d LOVE to see a show featuring I Pooh (they’re basically the Italian Beatles… been around since the 60s-70s), or some more modern acts like Nek and Eros Ramazzotti (who, btw, also record in Spanish–the languages are close enough to make adapting to Spanish easy) and others. But I don’t expect that. While the Italians would love it, the majority of the crowd wouldn’t be able to participate.
It’s not about the act “not being American”. For those in need of the history lesson, Puerto Rico is a US territory, even if it’s not a State. In fact, a good chunk of what are now US States were territories first, then later became States. Puerto Rico’s situation is not unique at all. And those from there are US citizens. If someone were to come from Puerto Rico to live in New York, they’d be MOVING, not EMIGRATING–same as if they were to come from New Jersey to live in New York. And we’ve had non-American acts perform at the Superbowl as well, Paul McCartney comes to mind, among others. But it was in English. Like it or not, it’s the de facto language of the US. The fact that it was never declared so was only because the Founders thought it went without saying and didn’t need to be underlined. In fact, they almost voted on a language change to German to completely separate from England, but decided not to. In order to function and get ahead in this country, English is necessary–and most everyone speaks it. And immigrants who come here, if they’re wise, make sure to learn it.
It’s not exclusive. I also speak Italian. I just don’t insist others do so to accommodate me.
Did Bad Bunny put on a bad show? No. Did he put on a show that entertained the majority of the target audience? Also no. Just watch the crowd–they were lost.
