Can I break some news to everybody: members of the US Military swear an oath to the US Constitution, and NOT to The Donald. Had such a thing been in effect in 1951, my father, who was joining the US Navy at that would have had to swear an oath to Harry S Truman, the US President at that time. BTW, they’re not to obey orders that defy their oath, such as illegal orders of both US and International Law , even if they come from the Commander in Chief.

As a former soldier you shouldn’t be too surprised about Jason Crowe. Just because he might wear a Ranger tab doesn’t always mean he had a combat arms MOS. They also have needs for cooks and administrative clerks. And there’s always a dud in every unit, even in the Rangers and Green Berets.

UCMJ Article 92 (Failure to Obey Order or Regulation): This article requires service members to obey lawful orders and regulations, but by extension, makes disobeying unlawful orders permissible, even required, and following them potentially criminal.
The Marine Corps has 11 General Orders that every Marine must memorize and follow while on duty, guiding their conduct and responsibilities.
The 11 General Orders
1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view.
2. To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
4. To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own.
5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.
6. To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the commanding officer, officer of the day, and officers and noncommissioned officers of the guard only.
7. To talk to no one except in the line of duty.
8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
9. To call the corporal of the guard in any case not covered by instructions.
10. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
11. To be especially watchful at night and, during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
