What good are all these factories when our dumbed down school system can’t produce people that are good at math anymore?
From 1996 to 2004 I was a process analyst at a large campus of fabs in the United States.
They closed it all, demolished the whole thing. A stunning destruction of so much painstakingly built, tuned, and maintained. A huge high stack of effort and expense against entropy.
I’m talking acres and acres of high precision. Their own water plant. Own treatment centers, own power plant. Four huge fabs, a testing and proving center, a research facility for Bell Labs. Even an education facility.
All of it razed and replaced with car dealerships, mixed commercial, and apartments.
The business plan was to purchase manufacturing from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, or TSMC.
How’s that looking now?
