If the “balloon goes up”, she will not deploy ( and probably 2/3 of her unit. She will get pregnant, or have some medical deferment.
I know this to be a fact,as this happened to a unit ( Air Transportable Hospital). Soon as we were notified of real world shooting war, the line stretched around the building as people decided they could not go. Pregnant, no one to look after their special need child ( were supposed to have a back – up plan, then “Mom” could not take care of the soldier’s child. Once deployed, got pregnant immediately and then shipped home ( could not wear chemical MOP gear due to thermal stress and effect on fetus etc. ( once back stateside, immediate abortion , but failed to notify chain of command,because they would be shipped out again.) So had soldiers with true fractures in cast sent to fill the slot.
Heard : I joined the military for an eduication( money for college etc) not to fight” ” my recruiter said I would never deploy , they lied to me etc.
Had one person ask:” if I don’t qualify with my M-16 then they won’t send me”. Told them if they did not qualify they would still deploy, but their chances of coming home alive were next to zero.
